ZSL London Zoo Giant Tortoise

What? There isn't anything on ZSL's site to indicate it's temporary, I hope it's misinformed.

i think it means the darwin celebration exhibit is tempory rather than the tortoise exhibition. i doubt very much that they would move the animals in for such a short period!

Big Dirk is here to stay!

I saw the male, Dirk, in the paddock yesterday munching on the grass,he looked fab :D

After talking to the Curator of the Herp department he informs me the 3 tortoises are staying at London indefinitely.
The paddock looks really nice, i wonder how much they'll eat:)

That would make sense. Looks like I got the wrong end of the stick.

Two more Giant Galapogas Tortoises

Dirk and Dolly are getting on well. Dirk doesn't really fancy Doleres and I don't think she is well (I could be wrong).

ZSL has purchased 2 Giant Tortoises who I believe are Dolly's sisters from Germany (possibly Berlin Zoo).

So, they should be in fairly soon after delivery and 3 months quanrantine.

This is a permanent exhibit as they did spend a lot of money on the area including the Dragon Area. Cost was down because they did use a lot of recycled material and if you look at the roof it is one of those lawn type roofs.
