Mogo Wildlife Park giraffe birth

MogoZoo has had it's first giraffe birth.
Tall order for zoo mum - Local News - News - General - Bay Post/Moruya Examiner

The mother Shahni was born at Melbourne Zoo in2006, daughter of their pair (and granddaughter of Anthony at Werribee) and is pure Rothschild.
The father would be Ijumma, who was born at Orana and is also pure Rothschilds, making this calf, a female, the first pure Rothschilds to be born since 2008 in the region and the first in Australia since 2007.
The calf was born at 2.20pm in the afternoon in front of the delighted onlookers.
Congrats Mogo.

This is good zoo news - congrats to all concerned at Mogo.

As seen in the newspaper photo the mother is in superb condition.

Thanks Steve:D> I was very pleased about this birth, I'd been waiting for this birth for a while. I saw Shahni just a few days after her birth and Ijumma at Mogo just a month or two after he arrived. I think giraffes are one of my favs for beauty in mammals and I'm very interested in the regions breeding group. The mother does indeed look good.
I hope that Mogo continues to have success in breeding giraffe and its other species as well. My only wish would be to broaden the genetics of both the regions girrafe group as a whole and the Rothschilds as a seperate group.
 
he may have lost his own zoo news site to sim's but he has carved a niche for himself as a news breaker! :)

yeah its a shame that restrictions on imports forced our zoos to absorb the rothschild's program into the regular hybrid giraffe population.

by the way - is there ever a giraffe birth headline that doesn't begin with the words "tall order"?

Sunrise just had a talk with Sally about the giraffe baby with video of the birth.
 
Oh woops i just read it ageain there fith giraffe in general my mistake :) so they have breeding male Ijumma breeding females Shani and Tanzi the first female born and the latest calf correct?

Thats right

And yet according to the article it is their third cald.
 
Munzi originally from Mogo is a first time mum at Altina wildlife park.
Easter Day 2015 she gave birth to a baby boy "Mzuri"
