Over the last year or so, I've been going through each countries "Other" gallery folder and have compiled a list of zoological facilities facilities with at least 4-5 photos added, with information and links added as well. With no new galleries being created for over two years, myself and other ZooChatters have been uploading zoo photos into the various Other folders. Many facilities without their own galleries are now present in various countries Other folders, and with new galleries not returning I thought it would be a good time to add a directory. Facilities here range from smaller nature centers to some pretty large zoos in fact.
With the Other galleries of several countries being very large and cluttered (especially the United States and UK folder), and with no way of separating zoos that may be of interest to members from other photos that are not, I hope this directory will be helpful. It also may help to confirm current/former animals at certain facilities for Zootierliste now that it is a global database. Hopefully in the future if new gallery creations ever return, these photo sets can be moved into their own dedicated folder.
What I didn’t add:
I will list the number of photos each facility has as well as provide links to the photos by upload set from most recent to least (for example: ten photos of one zoo that are uploaded one after another will be linked as photos #1-10, which users can scroll through using the arrows in gallery. If facility has eleventh photo that is uploaded by a different user or not directly uploaded after #10 in gallery, it will be posted as separate set). I will also credit users who uploaded photos. I will also be providing the name of the facility and used Google or TripAdvisor to add the location as well. Its possible I have wrong information on some of those so locals may correct me, I've never been to any of the non-US zoos listed of course.
If I made a mistake or missed a facility that you think is relevant, please let me know. Also if new zoos or photos get uploaded in the future, feel free to add them here! The most recent uploads added to my list is the photo set of Zoologischer Garten Hof added by @PossumRoach a few days back.
I will be starting with Europe over a couple of posts, followed by North America, then Oceania and (East + South) Asia and then the other regions.
