Flying to San Antonio tomorrow via Houston airport for a conference and WdG-related business reasons. It has been a while since I have been to the Lone Star State.
San Antonio Zoo will be visited as part of the conference social program. Any other attractions / recommendable dining options between San Antonio and Houston?
Will probably visit the Palmetto State Park and the Witte Museum. New Braunfels Snake Farm = roadside zoo?

The Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo in New Braunfels (Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo - Zoo Home Page) has been upping their game with new exhibits for many of their animals, so it's definitely worth a visit; the reptile collection rivals many AZA collections.

Thanks, and hopefully not sounding like a Euro snob, but from what I've seen online (venomous snakes in tiny bare plastic boxes behind bars), I doubt that I will enjoy the visit...

To my knowledge, the vast majority of these are thankfully gone (at least, on the public-facing side). My last visit (late 2019) had half of them gone and replaced with better enclosures. I can only hope that it has improved further since then, but I don’t know for sure.

Enjoy your trip!
