Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo Gorilla vs Gorilla

From what I've read so far, the whole things seems to be more of a freak accident than an all out attack. The young female was slapped/hit by the silverback and fell 6-7 feet on her head. Had she fallen differently, Baina may still well be alive. I've definitely seen gorillas fight, and you wonder how they take in so much of that impact. Gorillas are big and can be rather rough, especially with each other.

I think in the wild silverbacks have been known to kill females at times. They can be as bad as chimpanzees. On Sunday I was at the Henry Doorly Zoo and saw two silverbacks fight in one of the indoor exhibits. One got slammed against the glass and they bared their teeth. I wonder if they were fighting over the female. It seemed strange there was a lone female with two males.

Many of these "fights" are in fact not as bad as they look and are more just showing off and dominance rather than aggresion
