I'm surprised not to see a thread about this zoo. I visited in Fall '07 and was surprised at how nice the zoo was. The newly renovated Africa section is excellent (I would say the best elephant exhibit in Canada) as well as a great tiger and Australia exhibits. It also has the best South American collection in a Canadian AZA zoo in my opinion. Granby also has one of the largest groups of mandrills in North America at about a dozen. When I visited I saw between 7-10 of them on exhibit. They also have one of the last cape clawless otters and Asiatic black bears in North America. I also liked their white rhino/grants zebra/crown crane and yak/tahr mix species exhibits. They also have underwater viewing of Nile hippos and regularly have calves. I will say they have some older exhibits (spec bears, leopards, japanese macaque and some of the other animals that had only indoor exhibits) but if they redo them like they did some of the other sections (tigers, africa, south america) they could be a world class zoo.
