The property may be sold to the Saint Louis Zoo to use as a breeding center. Four of the Busch family heirs are in favor of the sale but one brother is against it and has filed a lawsuit to stop it.

Citing the ongoing dispute among family members, the St Louis Zoo has withdrawn its offer to purchase the property. (IMO a wise move).

It is a smart move by the zoo, but I think that the zoo should perhaps have charge of just the animals. The African Elephant exhibit here is unpleasant, as are many horse stalls that aren't big enough for them to turn around in, with no yard to roam in. I have been here perhaps three times, but I don't plan on coming back. There is a Green Iguana exhibit with absolutely no vertical space, among other disgraces... hopefully something good will happen for animal welfare here.
There are no longer any Green Iguanas at Grant's Farm.
ZooChatters will be glad to know that construction has begun on some new exhibits for small animals, located across the path from the waterfowl pond.

So what is going on at Grant's Farm? Is the Busch Family still running it with the old zoo section intact?
The Busch Family still runs it. It's still a zoo. During my visit this summer, I saw some new enclosures being built, so maybe there are big plans for improvement of quality. Or maybe not.

That was Grant's Farm's last elephant. I wonder if they will get any more or if they will get something else to occupy the enclosure.
Apparently Grant's Farm has no plans to keep elephants in the future. They also claim not to believe any of the deaths are related.
