Hello from Central Florida, my name is Kurt and I am so glad to have discovered this forum. I'm a hobbyist photographer and enjoy visiting theme parks mainly Disney World which is home to my local zoo, Animal Kingdom (DAK). I spend a lot of time along the Gorilla Falls and Maharajah trails visiting the Western Lowland Gorillas, Sumatran Tigers and a wide variety of birds. I also enjoy wildlife photography and frequently visit local nature parks. Looking forward to interacting with the community and sharing updates from my second home.

I can be found on Instagram at Jolly_green_giant_94, but it is a mix of all of my photography, not just Zoo

Thank you. DAK is a special place. Theme park and Zoo rolled into one. I just visited Zoo Tampa back in December and it is a nice place. I have not made it over to the Central Florida Zoo yet, but that is absolutely on my list in the Fall.

You should make an effort to go over to Wild Florida over in the St. Cloud area too, it is not AZA, but it is definitely one of the best non-AZA places I have seen.

There are lots of little zoos in central Florida that no members have visited yet, care to fill out their galleries? ;)
Which ones are we looking for? I might be able to hit a few at some point :) My photos are far from professional, however!

None in particular, I was just looking at Google Maps and realized how many there are and how few of them have any info on this site.

I actually have been visiting them monthly for almost two years now. Wonderful facility.
Welcome!

There are a few facilities that come to mind (Wild Florida, Gatorland and St Augustine Alligator Farm), but only the latter is AZA accredited so I wasn't sure if they were excepted on this forum. Unfortunately not all facilities care of their animals properly so I don't know how much representation the admin team here wishes for them to have. I can definitely add what I do have to galleries if I figure out how

I think that it’s alway great to see another chatter from Florida like you, joining us here on ZooChat, well, at least in my opinion. But regardless of what I am trying to say, I am certain that you will have more than a good time of being a member here on ZooChat.

Welcome!! All zoos, etc can have photographs on here. IMO it's good to document the bad ones to show what they're really like, especially from a non-ARA view. Posting photos doesn't doesn't mean you endorse them :) If you don't see an album for a particular place, you can request it be added here: New Gallery Request Thread 2022 [New]

Thanks, that's an impressive map. How do I add photos to the gallery? I see the albums for the facilities I visit, but can't figure out how to add to them

Once you go to the album, there's a blue button in the upper left, just above the zoo name, that says "Add Media". That'll take you to the upload page. You can upload 5 images at a time. After you've selected them, it'll let you add titles and descriptions before you post them.

There is a new restriction in place, new members have to have been here for so long and have so many posts before they can upload anything, to help cut down on spam. I'm not sure what those parameters are.

That makes sense, thank you

Nice! Any way to share that? I think it may be a little out of date, if I am reading it correctly. It looks like the Gator park up by The Villages is on the map, and they never opened again after they closed during covid. I am curious what a few of those places are, I don't recognize them all :)

Great! Gatorland and Wild Florida are always welcome here, I went there in 2020 and added some photos, but more updated ones would be great.

I don't like sharing my maps publicly, but if there's a place you want to know about, feel free to ask. I've left it on there because it may reopen if it's purchased, I have that in the notes when I click on it.
