Groups call for end to B.C. bear hunt

In 2007, 430 grizzly bears were killed in B.C. — 87 per cent by sport hunters. That alone is an interesting statistic, but many people have argued that if the grizzly bear hunts were eliminated then the bears would become out of control with their numbers.

The Environment Ministry estimates there are approximately 16,000 grizzly bears and up to 160,000 black bears in B.C.
