Two otters from zoo Montana have arrived to the grizzly and wolf discovery center. This bring the zoos total to three otters

I recently got a newsletter from the GWDC and apparently the zoo recently got two 1 year old female otters from Pittsburgh which brings the number up to 5 otters and the their Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout and Arctic Grayling arrived last fall and more are on the way.The center will also have new viewing for their raptors in the near future as well. The Riparian exhibit is opening sometime this month

I’ve just uploaded some pictures of the new Riparian Exhibit today. The otters were the only animals that were out were the otters. Here’s my review of the exhibit
The Otter Exhibit was extraordinary and incredible. It looked very natural and the animals had plenty of space. The Cutthroat Trout exhibit also turned out to be very nice and the animals will have plenty of space once their on exhibit. However I personally thought the Arctic Grayling Exhibit was disappointing as I wish they had as much space as the Trout and Otters do. Overall though I think this exhibit turned out wonderful and personally pictures do not bring this exhibit complex justice. It’s way better in person

Just went to the center today and I have a huge update so let’s get to it
1. The center has two new wolves. A dark gray named Sura who’s twelve years old and a gray male Lakota who’s 14 old. They’ll be joining the wolf pups and they’ll be a pack of 5 once the river valley wolf habitat renovation is completed
2. The Arctic Grayling and Cutthroat Trout r now on exhibit
3. The center has confirmed that the Rubber Boa, Tiger Salamander and the Columbian Spotted Frogs will be the amphibians the center will be getting
4. Grizzly cubs r being slowly introduced to spirit
I’ll post pictures of all the new animals later today

The center has finally confirmed that they have two new wolves and as it turns out I was way off with their information (I’m sorry about the misinformation. It’s what one of the naturalists told me and I’m deeply sorry about that). Sura the female is 9 years old and Lakota the male is 13 years old. Lakota turns out is actually related to McKinley and Leopold

Hey everyone. I didn’t think I would be coming back on to zoochat again. However now looking back I just needed a break from it. It became too much. I got A LOT of news from my visit today and I Will be posting pictures tonight so stay tuned.
4 wolf pups were born at the GWDC to the Fossil Butte Pack to 10 year old Sura and 14 year old Lakota. These were the 1st wolves ever born at the center. More info is below

however In return a 5 to 6 year old male grizzly bear was rescued and brought to the grizzly and wolf discovery center after a series of human errors. This is the 3rd bear the centers rescued in less than a year

Bears: the center new bear that they rescued on July 6th from Rainbow Point Campground has been named Bo. He is a 4 year old male they recently confirmed and he’s been going out on the bear habitat now and soon should be out during visitor hours. The center also said on their website that the new bear habitat will include black bears

Wolves: Akela, a 13 year old female wolf has died recently from seizures that left her incapacitated. She was the alpha female of the River Valley Wolf Pack. Her brother, 13 kootenai will potentially be introduced to other wolves at the center
