Guess the movie

Sorry. The pics were on the previous page when I posted this and I was too lazy to check. Obviously I really meant that the pic with the guy blowing up bits of ice (#3) was "Chasing Ice". :D

I've just saw trailer, not film, and maybe you are right, but I made this snapshot from another film. This scene was captured in Antarctica, if I am not mistaken. Do you know the name of this man?

NowI am intrigued! You might as well just tell us the names of all of them.

All right.
№2 is "Oceans" by Jacques Perrin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceans_(film)
№3 is "On thin ice", the 7th film of "Frozen Planet" series.
№4 is "Winged Migration" directed by Jacques Cluzaud, Michel Debats and Jacques Perrin. Wikipedia: Winged Migration (French: Le Peuple Migrateur, also known as The Travelling Birds in some UK releases, or The Travelling Birds: An adventure in flight in Australia) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winged_Migration)

so seeing I was the only one to guess any of them correctly, does that mean it's my turn now?

excellent. As documentaries proved too difficult (I know I only knew the cartoon!) here are some movie movies. The theme is that they were all based on books.

№1 - "Die hard"?
Die Hard is correct. Based on the 1979 book Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp. Good book, and the movie follows the story very closely (even the action scenes in the movie, like the computer/C4 combination being thrown down the elevator shaft, are straight from the book). The main difference noticeable is that in the book there are several female terrorists, presumably removed in the movie because they didn't want the hero killing women.

2 Watership Down
3 Blade Runner
4 the Big Year?
all correct. Based on:
Watership Down by Richard Adams (1972)
Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick (1968)
The Big Year by Mark Obmascik (2004)

Just number five to get now......

number five is indeed The Running Man.

Pygathrix wins with three correct guesses (and he also somehow managed to guess the theme of them all being based on books).

Ok here are 5 more. The first four are new releases. And as a special treat number five is an older one for the NZ folks, although it was on UK TV recently (and is definitely the worst of the bunch by a country mile).

always bashing the NZ arts.......

Quick off the mark, and both correct.
Rust and Bone - a really great movie, although it's difficult not to be distracted by Marion Cotillard's stumps and the clever way they were CGI'd.
Killing Them Softly - I was really looking forward to this and have to say it was a bit of a disappointment.
