OK - here's a bunch of 5 for someone else to drive themselves mad over!

For a bonus Maguari point if you can name it and possibly a slight clue - all of these were taken at the same zoo in 2010.

Happy guessing!
the zoo wouldn't be Artis would it?

Number one seems pretty obvious, I think I know number four. Number two is just a bizarre photo -- I can't even begin to guess what that could be!

Now now, don't be a sore loser. We won't think less of you if you are wrong. :p

Go ahead and tell us your guesses - even if you are wrong, you might spark some ideas in our heads. ;)

I think one of them is the tooth of an animal - I guess an elephant's tooth.

well I can't get anything much more wrong than my guess on Maguari's other lot of photos!

With regards to number two, funnily enough elephant's tooth was the only thing I did think of but I figure its something alive. If it is a tooth separated from the animal then the game enters a whole different degree of difficulty.....but then Maguari is a tricky fellow.... [I just thought of a new game - guess the skull!]

And for the record, my guess for number one is northern gannet and number four looks like an armadillo of some sort, perhaps big hairy armadillo, which is why I guessed the zoo as being Artis (I have some roundabout logic for coming to that conclusion which I won't go into :D)

Some tough ones there. These are some of my guesses.
1. Northern gannet
2 and 3. Haven't got a clue
4. Coypu?
5. Looks almost like a Colorado beetle

Two correct species guesses so far - one of them hasn't been stated confidently yet so will not confirm just yet, I think the other right answer is fairly obvious as we seem to have reached consensus!

I can confirm:

a) all the photos are cropped from photos of living (and intact) individuals!

b) the zoo isn't Artis (sorry Chli!)

I'm surprised how hard photo number 2 is proving, I have to say. Surely someone can have a guess at 3!

4. Coypu?
hmm, maybe a rodent is a better idea. I was looking at the tail thinking armadillo because of the scales but now I'm going to have to do some re-thinking. Still no idea on 2,3 and 5 though....are there Colorado beetles on display in European zoos?

I posted the above whilst Maguari was posting. I have it now, the zoo is Stuttgart isn't it? And number five is a Colorado beetle. (Better add a question mark for safety's sake: ?)

I shall confirm only that Northern Gannet and Colorado Beetle are correct. :D

I'm going to come back to this tomorrow; I have to go sleep now. But, seriously, number two: I don't have any sort of clue! (Unless maybe its a horn of something? No, I have no idea).

If number 4 isn't a coypu, I will have take a wild stab in the dark and say... Desmarest's hutia!

I agree with Orangeperson, number 2 does look sort of like a sheep horn. If that is the case, I'll guess Barbary sheep.

Number 3 still seems nigh-on impossible but I will take a completely uneducated guess- is it a collared peccary?

4 is indeed Desmarest's Hutia!

No correct guesses for 2 or 3 yet but you're on good lines. :)

My guess is a Mouflon for number 2. Could be another species of sheep as well but I'll just go with the most common one.

Number 3...Eurasian wild boar maybe?

1. Northern Gannet
2. It almost looks like a trilobite! :p I'm still very unsure of even what taxa this animal is in. Mind giving us a hint, Maguari? :)
3. I'll say... Common Wombat
4. Desmarest's Hutia (sorry DesertRhino150 :o)
5. Colorado Beetle

Number 3...Eurasian wild boar maybe?

Correct!

4 correct answers so far:

1 - Northern Gannet (AnaheimZoo)
2 - ????????
3 - Eurasian Wild Boar (ralph)
4 - Desmarest's (Cuban) Hutia (DesertRhino150)
5 - Colorado Beetle (DesertRhino150)

All I will say re: 2 is that Chlidonias, OrangePerson, DesertRhino150 and ralph are all flirting with the correct area!

(and if you go to ZootierlisteHomepage and enter 'Stuttgart' into the search box it may give you a hint! :D )

that's giving away trade secrets! It looks like Stuttgart has two types of domestic goat and two species of wild goat, so I'll go with Tajik markhor

And we have the set! :D

(I did give it away a bit but it was getting painful! Really surprised how hard that one turned out as I genuinely thought it would be one of the easier ones!)
