Time for hints?
Both species are Asian. They are held in European and American collections but not very commonly.

I think the mammal is a pig: Babirusa? Bearded Pig?
The bird is beyond me, I can't think of any birds with such scraggly feathers!

One is a pheasant, perhaps a peacock-pheasant of some sort. Two is a macaque, not sure which species.

Guess the species?

I can't decide which bit of the bird's anatomy I'm looking at, which doesn't help identify it. Good puzzle.

It is an excellent puzzle! But its now Friday in NZ so you should put us out of our misery and ID the bird for us! :D

Fair enough. Nice try everyone, I didn't think they'd be so hard. (Probably because I was there.) :)
That makes Pygathrix the winner. The two photos were of a Malayan tapir and a white-crowned hornbill. Attached are photos for context.
