Guess the species #6

We now have six correct guesses!

But not, as yet, all in one post :p

The ball is bobbling along the goal line. Can I finally tap it into the net?

1) Mhorr gazelle
2) Bornean bearded pig
3) agile wallaby
4) glossy ibis
5) Eastern green mamba
6) Apennine chamois

Alan

And GentleLemur scores :)

As the person to finally get all six in the correct order, he gets first shot at the next challenge; if he is not interested Thylo and Macaw can fight it out, having each got two correct guesses apiece.

Here are the two images which caused all the trouble, by the way:

I really wanted to win this as I have had a set of quiz photos ready for several months ;).
I will complete my checks before take-off and I hope to post the new quiz later today.

Alan

Just make sure I win ;).

I'm really annoyed as I thought Glossy Ibis, but decided no as it didn't look right! Grrr....

gentle lemur's slightly twisted quiz

Here are my photos for identification this time round.
Although they may look a little different, there are no tricks here. All the images are in the correct orientation and all the photos were taken in the UK, although some were taken a while ago. To the best of my knowledge, with one exception, all these species are currently on display in one or more UK collections.

I am making two slight twists to the regular format. As you can see, one of the images shows a fish - I don't think we have had one here before. It is not an uncommon species in collections.
Secondly I have chosen the subjects so that there is a connection between them. The correct answer must not only name the species correctly, but it must explain this connection. I think this will actually help to identify the more difficult images.

Have fun :D

Three correct answers so far, but no one has established a connection yet (as a Chester member I might have thought of islands, but I didn't). I would always recommend the study of Fishbase, but it does have entries for 33200 species, so the last one may cause problems for a while

1. Fly river turtle
2. Heck's macaque
3. Round - eared elephant shrew
4. Nile lechwe
5. Northern gannet
6. Butterfly goodeid

My guess for the link would be that they are animals which are related to seemingly very different creatures.

1) pig-nosed turtle
2) Celebes black ape
3) round-eared elephant shrew
4) sable antelope
5) rhinoceros hornbill
6) butterfly goodied

They all have another animal in their common name.

ooh, actually lion-tailed macaque for number two. It fits my link suggestion better...

I like all your guesses devilfish; the only issue I can find is that all six taxa are found within the UK at present.
