Guess the species #6

1 - Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis)
2 - White-faced Scops - I'll guess Northern!
3 - Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadorii)
4 - Asian Elephant, subspecies sumatranus?
5 - Horse-headed Grasshopper (Proscopia sp.?)

Four correct! Three different people have guessed correctly. Just to be clear, the one who lists the most correct wins.

How about:

2 - Southern White-faced Scops :D
3 - Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadorii)
4 - Asian Elephant, subspecies sumatranus

TealovingDave: I'm giving the elephant to Thylo.

I imagined you would :P just remember, as regards Maguari.....

3 - Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadorii)
4 - Asian Elephant, Malaysian subspecies sumatranus in current taxonomy (thank you TLD!)

And we are back to four. Yes, the walking stick is the only one left.

Taking a wild punt of the zoo concerned and a quick glance at the website... :p

5 - Giant Jumping Stick (Stiphra sp.)

No, no. That is mine. Boo TLD, he's trying to keep me from winning! This is a conspiracy!

:p

Also, I think you mean four....

~Thylo:cool:

Nope, I meant four. MaguarI guessed Northern white faced owl, then changed it to Southern white faced owl, bringing it back down to three. He corrected it, so now we are back to four.

All correct you are the winner! I knew the hint would easily give it away but I don't to have another long round.

Maguari - Northern White-faced Scops Owl, Malaysian Elephant (even though I think Thylo might deserve this one), Giant Jumping Stick

ThylalcineAlive - Southern Lapwing

TealovingDove - Crocodile Monitor

Insects are difficult for this game because outside of Lepidoptera and a few other groups the common names are completely unstandardised and there are just so many species and genera!

Going to also go for five from one zoo, I think - photos to follow...

Here we go - five shots, all from the same zoo. I've stuck to mammals - good luck all - have a feeling you'll either find these very easy or very tricky...
