Guess the species #6

Can I suggest that we stick to full species identifications. The subspecies just become a guessing game, rather than an ID challenge, in most cases.

A fair point - although the taxon everyone struggled with was the only one I did not want a subspecies for ;)

I think with the exception of the Canada Lynx - which everyone kept guessing Eurasian subspecies for - none of the subspecies provided too much challenge for people to work out.

It just so happens that subspecies of Lynx lynx throw up a lot of permutations!

hehe the only reason you knew the ssp of the Canada Lynx was because we had been discussing the zoo's lynx and I told you the ssp they'd be:p

Well I guess I'll go now!:)

Six photos from three different zoos, and don't bother trying to search through my personal gallery to try and find them.

Nicked a few from TLD as didn't have anything better! :D

I think TLD's round broke the game because there wasn't a fast enough turn around, and now nobody can be bothered.

Yeah, blame me rather than the person who posed the round everyone is stuck on :p

Okay, I'll just list the correct ones so far to try and get this going again:

1) Short-Beaked Echidna Tachyglossus aculeatus aculeatus

I have absolutely no idea what 4 is or even what sort of animal it is. Clues please! (I thought it was a giraffes neck at first :o!

Number 2 isn't a Common Adder. I'll give a hint, though. It's a rattlesnake species.

Number 5 isn't a Banteng but that's closer than any other answer so far I believe.

Huh, I guess I pulled a TLD in thinking the hardest one would be the easiest. It's not a mammal, I'll give you that.

Is 4 a leg? Has this turned into my personal guess the species thread or is someone else going to guess?
