Guess the zoo

Yay! This zoo was once home to the king of Norway. It still has strong connections with royalty. Name that zoo.

Not Copenhagen and sadly Oslo does not have a zoo...

If it helps, one of the current royal connections is that its senior patron is heir to the throne.

Not London Zoo.

Another clue. In the last decade approximately 300 mammals and birds born at this zoo have been released into the wild, including otters in the Netherlands, European wild cat in Germany and lynx in Poland.

Correct!

Historic letters show that King Håkon of Norway lived at Åby Manor, where the zoo is located in 1307. The King of Sweden made the official opening in 1989 and the current patron is Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.

Okay, my turn. Which zoo had to abandone the idea of transporting an elephant in a train wagon, after the elephant destroyed the railway compeartment he was to travel in. It was therefore decided that the elephant and keeper should walk to the zoo. A journey that took 10 days.

Belle Vue Zoo obtained the elephant Maharajah in 1872 from Edinburgh and - as said - had to walk to Belle Vue !

Correct, and I who thought that was a difficult question. But compared to the other questions here it was maybe easier. Can you guys please chose some little easier questions now to make it easier for younger, less experienced and less knowleadegeable zoonerds to answer.
