Guides [books] to U.K. zoos[in general,not specific zoos]] first appeared in the UK in the late sixties however for the U.S.I know of nothing earlier than the 1989 book" Marine Parks and Aquaria of the United States" by Pacheco and Smith.Is there anything?...other than the AZA directories[which are just listings in any case].Obviously there was a rash of these things in the nineties,but its a big surprise that nothing existed earlier-or am i wrong?
