I have visited 405 zoos and aquariums (including reptile parks, bird parks, minizoos, museums with sections of live animals ...) of 37 countries between 1970 and the present.

Did a little bit of googling and the search for "Mark Lehman, San Bernardino, California" led to a teacher and basketball coach on Cajon High School. Could it be him? Anyone wants to try and contact him?

Edit: Yes! It´s him! They called him "Mr. Zoo" in some article about girls basketball!

Haha, I know I’m REALLY late to this thread but he’s actually (no joke) my grandfather! He was a girls basketball coach mainly because my mom played basketball there. My mom (his daughter) had a large interest for animals so they went all over the world together (along with my grandmother) visiting zoos.

Yeah, I was just curious who still held it today because he has newspapers framed in his garage about him and his record. Really impressive for Jonas though. I think my grandfather stopped visiting all the zoos before I was born. Maybe when my mom graduated. I’m not quite sure.

Although Jonas notoriously reached that total by including collections under the classification of "zoo" which few others would although I don't doubt that his total is still close to a thousand even disregarding such collections.
