GW Exotic Animal Park (Closed) GW Animal Park Discussion

Because it'll encourage more people to watch, which will make them more money.
They are still giving her a platform .

Say what you want about how Baskin is in the right side of history for trying to abolish the private exploitation of animals. But she is known for doxing and slandering people even if they simply question her. Imagine how the media would treat her if she wasn’t anti private ownership.

They don't care what she does as long as they can make money over her.

I also hate how she claims that: "Cats shouldn't be bred to live in cages," but then she goes and works with zoos to get more cats."

Lowe has had more of his animals taken away (hooray!). All animals were to be removed from Wynnewood by the 4th. They weren't, so all 11 wolves (possibly hybrids), the 1 brown bear, 1 black bear, and 3 more tigers are going to Wild Animal Sanctuary. During the June inspection, the bears and wolves all received notes about health concerns and poor veterinary care.

34 animals went missing between the June and July inspections.

Lowe's latest plan is to have "Tiger King Park" (the latest name for the place in Thackerville) be a zoo that is only "visited" by internet, with several online reality shows, along with the opportunity for people to purchase Cameo visits with the animals, etc. This is still a violation of the Animal Welfare Act and his license suspension.

What kinds of animals went missing?

~Thylo

Cats. "Acquisition and disposition records were missing or unavailable at time of inspection so that 34 animals could not be accounted for by the facility representatives. The following are examples of the big cats unaccounted for: Four Tigers by the names of "Rheque", "Amarouk", "Tess" and "Jughead" and one Liger by the name of "Lizzy" have been dropped from current inventory with no disposition papers to document where they have gone. Two Tigers by the names of "Filet" and "Mud Cat" were transferred on 2/17/20 as documented on Oklahoma Certificates of Veterinary Inspection #2246623 & #2246624 but there are no acquisition records on these two animals and neither of them are listed the on previous inventory dated 06/05/19."

Finally got to the bottom of the golden jackal thing, albeit from an odd source - a court document.

It's believed that Lowe is no longer in possession of these animals; they were likely relocated or "disappeared" during his move to Thackerville a few weeks ago. Hopefully they are alive and found.

Yes, and the court document actually DISAGREES with the USDA document it you read it, it says that it is a Black-backed Jackal. Just more evidence that those USDA inspection reports are utter garbage.

After learning more about the plaintiff here, hopefully the animals are already dead. She has a record of letting animals starve to death (I've seen photos), has lost licenses, has stolen animals back from facilities after they were rescued from her, and a host of other really awful issues.

The remaining cats at the park were seized and removed by federal authorities. Unfortunately, the article does not state where they are going. Does anyone know?
Feds seize 68 big cats at ‘Tiger King’ zoo once owned by Joe Exotic (msn.com)

Remaining big cats. There's still a bunch of bobcats and caracals at the property. There's been a lot going on. Leading up to the seizures, the Lowes were being fined $1,000 a day until they met the court order. There's been multiple fed seizures, starting with mothers and cubs. They've pretty much all gone to Colorado, some might get sent elsewhere due to the sheer numbers.
As for the remaining animals, the Lowes appear to have left the property (they've been threatening a move to europe). There's one employee feeding the animals but they are barely being cared for. Some native species have been released, ones like raccoons and porcupines. It's a bad situation.

Pretty much every legit sanctuary has gotten a couple of animals from the latest group. They're starting to pop up on social media pages.

I might add a law enforcement-wise badly managed situation too. This whole debacle might not have happened to the point that it did if it had been properly overseen by competent wildlife authorities.

I also do think the accredited zoo organisations AZA and ZAA should have been consulted as well in order to have the animals on site relocate and transfer to facilities able to provide duty of care and provide quality of life.

Final nails in the coffin: A free release of some captive animals goes absolutely against any duty of care whatsoever and it surprises me that both individuals managing this facility are still walking free (???).

Local law enforcement won't act on anything related to the place, sadly. The feds have done what they could. Wild Animal Sanctuary is competent, I believe, but in any situation this size, you're going to have people butting heads and disagreeing on things :( The big cats are all safe now, at least.
