Long have I been here, sneaky reading topics about Dutch zoos, but since I met the brilliant "must see" exhibits and zoos in Europe and US threads; it only seems fair I introduce myself here as one way to express my gratitude for all the excellent information available here.
My name is Willem, 40 years old, and I live in the geographic center of the Netherlands (Near Burgers' and Ouwehand zoo, ideal for regular visits to Dutch, Belgian and German zoos); together with my wife and two kids.
My zoo hobby started about 25 years ago, when I started to follow the transition of Blijdorp (Rotterdam Zoo) from an old outdated facility to a modern lovely world class zoo (untill 15 years ago, meanwhile they transferred back to mediocre I think). In recent years I had annual passes for Burgers Zoo or Rotterdam Zoo and started to visit other zoos outside the Netherlands.
My favorite zoos are Burgers Zoo, Beekse Bergen and Rotterdam Zoo/Blijdorp in the Netherlands; Beauval, Antwerp, Prague, Vienna, both Berlins, Munich, and Leipzig in the Europe; and the Bronx and San Diego outside Europe.
I'm looking forward to participate in the many great threads here!
