They certainly like the unusual species, I have not seen them here before.

Good addition. I have kept and bred this species in my home collection, they make a good display.
Hamerton is back at it with the Australian oddities it seems... Great!

Up at Hamerton today on a cold breezy day. Started off with rain but it brightened up later on. Fairly quiet visitor wise early on though more arrived in the afternoon. Good day out despite the chill.
The bears have gone off show for the winter torpor - the path to the bear meadow is gated off just past the tigers and before the (former now) jaguarundi enclosure. Couple of pictures below.
The Outback aviary is also closed due to avian flu precautions.
The new tortoise house, new meerkat area and the new building in the centre near the cafe all coming along.
Despite the chilly weather there was a good amount of animal activity. Corsacs looking handsome in their growing winter coats and lunching vultures / marabou storks a couple of highlights as was seeing the juvenile Argus pheasant which I hadn’t spotted since it went to an enclosure from the nursery.
Expecting my elusive possum status to now remain the same until the warmer weather comes round again!

Great stuff, how many times have they bred? It'd be nice to see more UK zoos with this species.

Excellent day at Hamerton today - weather was very good. Lots of animal activity. Quiet visitor wise as I’d expect on Xmas eve.
Didn’t see the civets though I popped by a few times.
My highlight however and a lovely end to the year - after 16 trips to Hamerton this year I finally got to see one of the golden possums! There it was, casually having some parsnips. Seasonal goodness. Elusive possums status - not so elusive!

Im incredibly jealous though as I did not see the golden possum
I did however see the ringtail possum which was a very pleasant surprise as I did not expect to see it in a million years!Remember the aardvark

Called in today and signage has gone back up for Asian short clawed otters. Only saw one briefly. Did see two golden possoms!

We were there today, and did see 1 otter.

After more then 10 visits we still didn't manage to see any.
We were there all day today, and I walked back multiple times and stayed for ages each time.
I did notice when I first went there upon opening, certain vegetables, I leave for 5 minutes, come back, and yep, they took some. So frustrating!! LOL!!

They clean the Golden Possums between 10.30am and 11.30am, best bet is to see the trolley and keeper doing that area and just stay in that area. About 5 mins after the keeper has finished in the exhibit, the big male often comes out for a snack for 5-10 mins max, then he goes off back to bed to snuggle with the other 5!
Sometimes the family will come out around 3.30-3.45pm ish as well.
But the adult male never likes to miss out on the best food, so you can set your watch by him coming out for 5-10 mins when the keeper has cleaned them.
