Hamilton zoo in New Zealand continues its role as a male bachelor herd for giraffes. Dume, a young bull born at Auckland is now being transferred to Hamilton. Also three of Hamiltons rhinos are being transferred to Auckland zoo, while a single male will be sent from Auckland to Hamilton. It looks like Auckland will be recontinuing its breeding program with the rhino.
 
I hope to visit Hamilton in the next few weeks , aso I will visit the zoo and give you an update .
Is there any particular issue that anyone wants me to follow up on while I am there ?
 
Great news from Hamilton Zoo

I just found a small snippet in todays Dominion Post ( I almost missed it )

Another white rhino was born at Hamilton Zoo
but better still -- it is a FEMALE !!!!

considering that alot of rhino births in the region have been male , this is certainly great news !:)
 
Hey Nigel, thank you - good to know that another female has been born. Now I will look to see if I can find the article.
 
Do a google search anf you will find a photo of 'cute baby rhino'
 
do google news search, and you can get a video of the news release thing, and see some birthing action as well!
