when is califa's calf going to be named?

Hanover Zoo announced the birth of the last of five this year born elephant-calves last night! Khaing Hnin Hnin (= "snowflake" and there is a lot of snow here in Germany in the moment!) as experienced mother and grandmother and the newborn are well! It´s a girl!

yay! It's good that Saphira has a sister, so that she won't be the only one of her age after her brothers leave.

Califa´s son got the name: Felix (=the happy one)

First of four elphant calfs are born last night. First-time Mother is"Saphira", she tooks good care for the bull calf. Two more elephant births are expected this year, the last one is due for spring 2017.

And in an interesting twist, as first mentioned in the beginning of this thread 6 years ago, they have ran into the issue of an inbred calf. The sire to Saphira's calf is none other than her own father, Nikolai.
