Not exactly sure when, but Hanwell received a flock of Red fodies (Foudia madagascariensis) from Chester zoo this year.

In June the first Ringed teal (Callonetta leucophrys) of the season hatched.

In May atleast 8 White-faced whistling-ducks (Dendrocygna viduata) hatched.

In April a Northern dry zone slender loris (Loris lydekkerianus nordicus) was born, would this be a zoo first breeding for Hanwell zoo?

At the begining of April the 4 Hazel dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) that were born in 2020 have been send to London Zoo. There they have been paired with unrelated individuals and were send to different parts of England to be released into the wild.

On April 22nd, the zoo announced that they acquired a (0.1) hammerkop from the Chester Zoo in March.

On May 3rd, the zoo announced they have renovated different areas of the facility, including adding a heron and pangolin statue.

On June 26th, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) domestic chickens (various breeds not specified) hatched.

On July 30th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) six-banded armadillo as well as (0.0.2+?) hazel dormice, both of which are now on exhibit.

This facility lists red crowned crane and margay among its holdings on their website. I was mostly surprised by the last one. Is there possibly anything else of note?
 
Hanwell Zoo, or Bunny Park as it is known locally, is tiny. There is not much of note there, though they have participated in the release of Hazel Dormice into nearby parks.

I love Hanwell Zoo, but I wouldn't say it is worth going out of your way to at all. If you find yourself in Ealing or Hanwell with 25 minutes to kill, then go. Otherwise, probably not worth it, I would say.
 
On February 7th, 2024, it was announced that the zoo transferred a grey slender loris to Wild Discovery in Lancashire.

On April 10th, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (0.1) white-lipped tamarin from the Colchester Zoo in Essex. It was also announced that the zoo transferred a (1.0) white-lipped tamarin to the Colchester Zoo.

On May 16th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (0.1) emperor tamarin to the Five Sisters Zoo in Scotland.

Visited Hanwell Zoo recently. Have mixed feelings about this local pocket zoo. The folks here have made positive strides in improving and modernising the very small space they have. They have replaced the small cages that sat sperate from the zoo,that used to house tortoises and replaced it with a new exhibit housing a Binturong (hiding away in it's little indoor house). They have a six-banded Armadillo in a new exhibit just inside the entrance.gift shop,once again in hiding. And a new Nocturnal shed housing a Slender Loris

They have done away with the butterfly/dwarf mongoose house,with it's crap entrance door that folks kept leaving open, and shoddy electric wiring.

Their fish tank hut has gone.

The little cafe outside has gone.

There has been some exhibit modernisation around the Ring-tailed Lemur enclosure

Whilst it's great to have a play area to entertain the little kiddies,i think it takes up too much space in such a small zoo,when theres expansive space just outside in Brent Park (i think even the outside maze has gone?).

Just imagine what could be done if Ealing Council 'gifted' them the old stables nearby?
