I'd like to get a car to drive myself place (like school, future job, zoos) but by the time I'll get my actual license it'll by closer to my 17th birthday as I must first get my permit and then go through several months of expensive classes.

I like the fact that you get your license at 16/17 but can buy alcohol only when you are 21.

Here in Australia, you can more or less celebrate your 18th birthday by driving drunk.

I got my license at 15, bought my first car a year later. Cannot imagine waiting til 21 to drink, and doubt many do.

You, sir, are correct. Very few wait until they are 21 to drink. Technically I've drunken, too, if you want to count Church wine that's taken with Communion. Besides that, I'm an alcohol virgin.
