Have a good day Hornbill, and I hope we all see some baby Writhed Hornbills at Chester this year.

I forgot it was that day already. Happy birthday. How's the Borneo plans coming along?

Thanks!!

The Borneo plans are coming along great, and I've been given the books you mentioned too!

Tomorrow I will have been a member for a year!

I sent you a trumpeter hornbill through the post. I take no responsibility for its condition upon arrival....

I trust your mum was able to find those Bulwer's pheasants you asked for...

Hope you had a great 14th!

What's this about a trip to Borneo?!

That is in the summer; a trip to Borneo and Singapore.

Danum valley, Kinabatangan river, Kinabalu national park and Seligan island. Fingers crossed for storm's stork and Bulwer's pheasants!

so you are making it to the Danum Valley then? Excellent. Re Bornean wildlife, if you weren't already aware, Tupaia longipes has been split from Tupaia glis (the mammal guide still has T. glis). And the best animal to look for at Kinabalu in my opinion has to be the foot-long Kinabalu giant leech so keep your eyes peeled (it eats earthworms, not people, so don't worry!)

Yes we are going to danum valley!

My dad has been telling me all about the leech socks, so he'll be pleased to know about the giant ones!

I haven't got the mammal book yet, but I've got the bird and Reptile ones (I also got a book very similar to the reptile one about reptiles of Singapore and Peninsular malaysia)

Hope you had a great birthday!! I'm looking forward to your reports from Borneo! I may have to borrow some books from the zoo library to know all of the animals you'll report on!!
