Sad to hear but at least they will focus on native wildlife so there is a plus.

A shame... I had just visited the park and although you could see that some things needed renovations or a revamp, it was still a fun visit.

Was an exceptional collection. Had the pleasure of working with the dedicated small bird team for a week during early 00s. Really gave me a glimpse into the specialist bird collections that used to be in this country.

Time will tell whether this is a sensible economic decision. From the comments I've seen many only visited for the bird garden! There must have been other options for all those enclosures, possibly without heating/indoor housing costs?

Sadly the bird gardens open for the final time tomorrow. I’ve been going for the last 35 years and paid my last visit today. The birds are starting to leave next week, with the penguins staying until the summer. Sad.
