Hello and here's to the elephants

This seems like an interesting website and I would love to discuss elephants and their plight in zoos. I have an extensive knowledge of the Bronx Zoo elephants, former and present, and would love to talk about them to interested people. I also know about the old Prospect Park Zoo elephants, Lilly was my absolute love........Would really enjoy hearing from anyone who knows elephants and cares about them and the way they are treated............By the way, I have, forever, been looking for a picture of a young bull elephant that was kept in the Bronx Zoo from 1930-1940. His name was Runga, and like most males kept in zoos, he was shot in 1940. I have only seen one picture of him and that was as a tiny baby. Would anyone out there have another picture or any information on Runga would be so appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from elephant fanatics.

I was able to find two photos of Gunda. Here are the links:

Ha ha. I Did not notice that @Richie hasn’t been on for so long! Anyway I still hope that someone in zoo chat may find the photos helpful.
I was very interested to see the second photo as I don't recall seeing that image of "Gunda" before; thanks for posting the link.
(I am familiar with the first photo as it's a copy of a postcard and I've got one of the original postcards.)
Going back to the first post in the thread; I assume nobody has found a photo of "Runga"?

Yes I can’t seem to find any photos of Runga on the internet! It’s like he never existed even though he did.
