Hello everyone. I have only been to one zoo, the Detroit Zoo. I do plan on in the Fall or next Summer making day trips to Lansing Zoo, Overnight to Grand Rapids zoo and Toledo Zoos.
I became a DZS member in 2006 when Detroit desided to stop funding the zoo. I had been wanting to volunteer for a long time. So, I became a spcial events volunteer and a Australian Outback Adventure volunteer. When the season started, I desided to add Zoo Ambasador to the list.
I was tired of my dead end job, with a boss over my sholder so I desided to see if there was a career with the Detroit Zoological Society, so I applied for a Guest Relations Assistant - Seasonal. The person I talked about jobs there, turned out to have since been promoted to supervisor and had requested me due to the volunteerisum. To better my job, I took the Gallery Guide Volunteer training, and I also volunteered two times. Due to two jobs and soon going back to school, I have not had time to volunteer, I hope to change that in the near future.
