Hello All

I'm Hannah & from Nottinghamshire. I absolutely adore all animals & my favourite zoo animal is the hippo (both species). I would love to visit all zoos & safari parks in the UK that have hippos, so far I've been to West Midlands Safari Park a couple of times & Whipsnade Zoo. Have also been to Twycross Zoo quite a bit, Busch Gardens, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Gatorland, Sea World & a very small zoo (not sure it qualifies to be called that) in France. Can't remeber the name of it, will add in at a later date.

Would be interested to know what other zoos & safari parks in the UK that have hippos.
 
Longleat has two female Pygmy Hippo's BUT it is risky because they are not always seen.Longleat also has has a very vast collection aswell.P.s-Welcome to zoochat.

KCZooFan - Thankyou for the link that is fab, & thankyou for the welcome. There isn't many zoos in this country with hippos.
 
Hello Hannah.

Whipsnade Zoo has both species of hippos. When I went to Whipsnade with some of London's Zoo volunteers, most of the volunteers chose the hippos as the best animals at the zoo.

So, there are lots of people who like hippos.

I like the Hippos at WMSP too - in fact they are the only one's I've seen in recent years, not the easiest animal to keep I would have thought?

Have I missed something I thought Longleat had 2 female Common Hippo's,unless they now have 2 Pygmy's as well.

It's all to do with the size of the lake, makes them appear smaller than they actually are! :D
 
Dassie Rat - Good to know there is lots out there that like hippos. Thanks, would also love to see them in the wild.

karoocheetah - Thankyou for the welcome. They have quite a few at WMSP, when I was last there I counted 9 I think. Although it was hard as heads kept appearing & dissapearing.

zoogiraffe - Having seen Longleat's two hippos on Animal Park I always thought they were Common Hippos, but they have never mentioned the actual species of them.

Brum - I love their lake its really huge, although I have never seen it. Only on Animal Park.
