It seems if they are raised in captivity and are used to captive diets, and the captive environment then they seem to be OK. Wild caught animals are highly stressed and will usually not do well. Aardvark are just not seen in any local collections which is a pity as they are such an interesting species.I agree, we may only take animals from the wild as a last resort (incase only a handfull remain and captive breeding is the only way to safe this species). Aren't aardwolfs also difficult to take care off, because of their diet?
What about aardvarks?
While there are other ways to educate people about animals, I also believe that seeing animals in person is a powerfull way of showing people the importance of conservation.
