Hello, my name is Victoria. I am a wildlife photographer and zoo enthusiast. I'm interested in animal welfare. I often do not have the opportunity to visit many zoos, but what makes a zoo for me is healthy and happy animals. I do struggle with communication, especially online. Some of you may be viewing this after the confusion on the hot takes forum. The community is definitely an adjustment. But I look forward to getting to know you all. I'm aware I did not specify too many details about myself, so I am open to questions.

Depraved = Morally corrupt, wicked. The connection is that's how they see me when I'm telling them all about a topic they're uninterested in.

I know what google gives as the definition. I do not remotely understand what talking about a subject others find boring has to do with being morally corrupt. There's no morals involved.

Others, when I am talking about uninteresting to them topics, view me in a joking manner as morally corrupt. So yes, there are no morals, it's a joke.

That makes no sense even as a joke, and using an in-joke for a name is a bad idea. Especially in something like this context, where it implies you are into a number of illegal activities involving animals or something. I suggest going on twitter and searching the word "depraved" to get a better idea of what the word means and when it's used.

Taking all this into consideration, I suppose it does indeed lack sensibility. How about we just say for now that the word sounded cool to me. ;)

There might be other words that better convey your intended meaning but I think it's fine honestly. I don't think it implies anything, I thought it meant that you were intense about being interested in zoos, which I think is fine.

That's not what it means, though o_O

I know, I just don't think it matters since @ZoologicallyDepraved just thinks it sounds cool. Besides, in a joking manner, friends can see you as "bad" (jokingly, "affectionately", whatever) when you talk a lot about something you're interested in.

I don't want to keep dragging this on, but an international forum is very different from a group of friends. It's a pretty loaded word that is rarely used outside of a certain context.

I guess I just don't see it as loaded, just a word with a meaning that doesn't maybe perfectly line up with the usage. But yeah not much point in continuing since it's a difference in interpretation.

I'm telling you it's a loaded word. It's not about interpretation when there's definitions and usage ;)

I mean there is because language is not an exact science but I get what you mean and I'm certainly not going to die on this particular hill. It definitely is usually used in a certain way which is inappropriate in this context perhaps. Ultimately I don't think either of our thoughts matter as neither of us are admins/mods anyways.
