I'm Moji! I can't believe I hadn't stumbled across this site sooner. I love that I've found (finally) some like-minded individuals who are enthusiastic about the same things I am. :D I'm from Los Angeles and go to the LA Zoo about once a week, but grew up going to the San Diego Zoo (and attending "Zoo School" when I was in elementary school) and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I recently visited the Mayaguez zoo in western Puerto Rico (the only zoo on the island) and I absolutely loved it. I hope to get to know you all better! I love these forums already. :)

Has anyone in the southern California area (or not) ever visited "Cat House" (the feline conservation center)? It is a personal favorite of mine and for many other big cat lovers. I'm off to search for any threads regarding this amazing place.

Hello and Welcome to Zoobeat!

I used to be the only person here from Los Angeles, and now there is two, YAY! I'm a volunteer at the Los Angeles Zoo and I'm always at the zoo every saturday, no matter what. Hope you enjoy Zoobeat as much as I do.

I've never visited the "Cat House", where is it? I would love to visit someday.

Hi and welcome to ZooBeat!

Do you have any photos from Mayaguez zoo? We'd love to see them - we don't have any photos from Puerto Rico yet.

Welcome to ZooBeat!! Is the feline conservation centre a place with a fantastic cat collection housed in fairly standard exhibits? Is it the same organization that is raising funds to finally build a large, naturalistic tiger exhibit? I've heard some good things about that place, but it appears to definitely be underfunded.

Yep, SnowLeopard! The FCC is a breeding compound and a mini-zoo consisting entirely of felines, big and small. They're doing amazing things with the CRITICALLY endangered amur leopard, and most of the amur leopards in capitivity here in the US come from the FCC. Project Tiger is still ongoing and should open next year. I definitely reccomend you visit if you ever can. It's a magical place, even if you're not a cat lover.
And yes, I plan on uploading some of my pictures from Mayaguez! It's a great little zoo.

That's great news for the species, Big cats are such beautiful creatures,

cool, welcome aswell, Oregon zoo, has captured my eye due to the birth of tusko's and rose-tu's elephant calf,
