Hello from North Wales, UK

Hi everyone, my name is Mandy, I'm 21 and I live in North Wales just a bus ride from Chester Zoo. I love animals (obviously!:D), I've wanted to work with them for as long as I can remember. I've just finished my degree in Animal Biology and English Literature and now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about zoo management, the laws and regulations, conservation programmes, how zoos are run etc.
I love meeting new people and since leaving university I know very few people who share my interest in wildlife and conservation, so I hope to make some friends on here. I want to learn as much as I can so I apologize in advance if I ask too many questions :p

I loooove Chester Zoo, I think I love it a bit too much, nobody likes going with me because I have to see EVERYTHING and take loads of photos when everyone else just wants to mooch about and relax. Every year around April my friends say "What do you want to do you for your birthday this year? BUT NOT THE ZOO!" So it will be great to talk to people who are as interested in zoo conservation as I am :)

Welcome to the forums.

Some of the pictures you have uploaded recently are very nice shots.

Now its off-peak I will be visiting Chester at least every 2 weeks.

Welcome to Zoochat, I am just starting my a levels and one of those is English Literature, a great subject I must say ;) I hope you have a good time on here.

Hi Mandy,

You will find many people who are nuts about Chester Zoo on this forum.

I'm sure you will enjoy your time on ZooChat.

Welcome to Zoochat, Mandy.
I like the photos you've put in the Gallery: I'm a pretty regular visitor to Chester too, so I can tell where you were standing for each one :)

First welcome and secondly I've always had the dilema of my two passions english literature and zoology and you've seem to have done them both!

It's great to finally meet someone else interested in both these subjects, when I tell people what I studied they always say "Oh that's a bit of a weird mix isn't it?" But it's not weird to me...
I wanted to do an animal science, for my career plans, but at the same time English literature is my best subject and I couldn't bear to leave it behind at A Level. The university I went to was the ONLY uni in the UK where I could combine an animal science with literature in a joint course, so that's where I ended up and I absolutely loved it :D
