Hi guys! I am so excited to get the opportunity to chat with like-minded individuals who love the natural world as much as I do.
I'm currently interning at a zoo in my state and I'm having a blast so far. I was lucky enough to get to choose the species I will be working with and I quickly chose the prosimians, specifically, three different species of lemurs! I have been utterly obsessed with these incredibly endangered primates, so this feels like a dream come true! This internship allows me to earn college credit while also getting to hyper-fixate on my favorite animals lol. Additionally, I will be taking part in a wildlife conservation internship that focuses on research for two months next summer in Madagascar. I figured that this zoo internship would allow me to become more knowledgeable about the animals I will later observe in their natural habitat. I have put off pursuing internships until recently because I didn't feel like I could be successful, but I'm so over holding myself back. Imposter syndrome is no joke. Here's to career building!
Now I have a fun question for you: What is your favorite animal to visit at the zoo and why?
