Hi Everyone,

Like most other people posting in this thread I'm just starting out in my zoo education. I'm really interested in the management of zoos rather than caring for the animals themselves.

To help me learn I'm putting together my own website www.zoonotes.co.uk. Its going to be a mix of zoo reviews, stuff I've learnt from the books I'm reading and general thoughts/news.

Right now it is in its infancy (just like me!) but you have to start somewhere! I'd love some feedback on the website in due course but for now I just wanted to say hello.

Welcome Alex. Good website with interesting reviews. Remerkable so much colleges have their own zoopark in U.K. Ysou're studying also on a college because of your intention to become a parkmanager or something like that. I'm interested in zoos since my youth, I'm from 1947. So visited U.K. a few time: 1970 London Zoo- 1975 a trip along f.i. Twycross, Manchester Belle Vue, Chester Zoo, Paignton, Whipsnade - 1995 Howletts, Port Lympne- 2007 f.i. Dublin, Blackpool, Chester- 2014 Marwell, Monkey World Wool, Bristol, Living Coasts. And off course a lot on the continent. My home zoo is Aqua Zoo Leeuwarden in The Netherlands about half an hour drive from Sneek. Also collecter of guides, zoopostcards, zoobooks.

Thanks all, nice how welcoming the internet it :-D. In answer to Arnold's question I'm not actually studying at a college, I work as a qualified actuary in a major UK insurer. At the moment I'm doing the reading from zoo management course reading lists in my spare time, I'm not sure when the best to jump industries would be but I know if I never tell anyone I want to do I at one point it will never happen!
