I am the Botanical Curator at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden in Evansville, IN. I bumbled into the board awhile back and have enjoyed it.

Hey welcome Kudzu,

Personally would be interested to hear eaxctly what your job is about. Is it only about the public areas or does it include animal exhibits?

I would assume the public can be just as destructive to there space as the animals can!

I oversee the care of the plantings in public areas and animal exhibits and our support facilities. It's a 45-acre park (with additional support acreage) with emphasis on naturalistic plantings. We recently opened a neotropical rainforest exhibit called Amazonia:Forest of Riches. It's a fairly small zoo so I do a considerable amount of general zoo supervision & management as well.
As far as damage to plant goes -- I think zoo staff can do more damage to plants than animals and visitors combined.
