I apologise but i do not own a zoo and do not even own that many pets. I am only 16 years old and seeking advice. I have tried many pet blogs but i prefer more exotic pets and most people don't have enough knowledge of wild animals to help me. If i could just use this sight to get some advice on certain pets that would be greately appreciated.
:)

ps. just so you know, my name is josh

Welcome Josh. When you say "exotic" do you mean non-Australian fauna? I thought the authorities wouldn't let much into the country.

Welcome to zoochat, i think there are quite a few members here who could help you out

Welcome!
Most members do not own zoos or large animal collections of their own, you aren't the only one for sure.

when i say exotic i mean water holding frogs, mudskippers and bats. The bats one is what stumps most pet blogs as they seem to be quite uncommon as pets due to the rabies problem among bats.

Ah, I see. I'm afraid I can't help with any of those! Only Parrots, but then plenty of those are kept in Australia anyway.

00000000, Sounds to me like you might want to just start out by focusing on a small "unusual" pet that is easy to keep. Forget bats for now. Maybe a bearded dragon, turtle or frog would be a good start. Mudskippers are also a great option. or you could try common birds like zebra finches or budgies.

purchase one, and READ READ READ until you feel confident. Learning about caring for animals is a long, yet rewarding process. But jumping straight into a difficult expensive type of animal can be expensive for you, defeating and cruel as a simple mistake on your part is all thats needed to result in an unnecessary sometimes painful death.

I have already had a pet bearded dragon and many species of pet frogs in my time, but I found them boring and lazy unless they were getting fed. I have already kept several pet bats before and they don't seem hard to keep as long as they are given plenty of food and room to fly around. I would get a pet bird but I am just not that interested in birds, I prefer mammals. I already have all the appropriate licences to keep them (at least my parents do), and i have researched a lot about them as well as going to a few courses about how to look after bats. I may be 16 but that doesn't mean that I am any less competent at looking after animals.

hi--what type of exotics are you interested in? for other members, i am interested in learning how a tiger is doing at the dorley zoo--it is a female indochinese tiger that was placed on loan from the rio grande zoo--any current information on dahrma would be ehlpful

something small but entertaining would be good, ive had alot of experience with animals so it can be fairly hard to look after.
