I’m Pepper! I currently live in Indianapolis, IN, but grew up in Colorado, where I took zookeeping courses my junior and senior year of high school at pikes peak community college. As part of the course, I left my high school every day and visited the Cheyenne mountain zoo (volunteering every few weeks as part of my grade) two days a week, and had two days of class time at the community college another two days.
I’ve always wanted to be a zookeeper, but I have chronic pain and it’s due to get worse, and I am on the spectrum so I can come off as annoying at times, as well as struggling to deal with interacting with loads of people on a daily basis like many keepers do. That aside, I absolutely loved my time at the zoo and it sparked a lot of passion in me. The zookeeping courses were four years ago and I sadly haven’t been to a zoo since, so I’m trying to get my zoo world fix by chatting here and learning even more.
