Hi,
I am a resident of Colorado in the US. I have been viewing the forums and media posts on ZooChat for quite some time and thought I may as well join the community formally.
I have been enthralled by animals and the zoos that hold them since I was a little kid. In my teenage years I was a volunteer for my local zoo for several years, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Unfortunately, I do not plan to pursue a career involved with animals, but I still visit zoos and spend time observing wildlife whenever I can.
I am fortunate enough to have visited several of the big-name zoos in the US and a few in Europe over the past few years. As I have gotten older, I have planned a few zoo-centric trips, most of which have occurred in the past year or two. While on those trips, I did my best to take detailed photos of each exhibit, so while some of the images may be from a few months ago, I will do my best to add them to the gallery soon.
My favorite animals are typically large mammals, with my favorite of them all being the hippo. In fact, while I was a volunteer, I mostly worked with my local zoo's hippo and black rhino. That said, I have recently grown a greater appreciation for birding and herptiles, and I am always looking to add to my personal lifetime list of species.
