Hi all, just been reminded that I haven't posted yet so I thought it was time to introduce myself...
I work at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent in the Marketing department (not very glamorous!). I don't know all there is to know animal-wise but I can always find out if you want to ask me anything :)

Thanks, I like it but then I am a bit biased! :p Thanks for the welcome, looking forward to chatting with everyone :)

Hi all, thanks for the messages - I feel welcome already! :) Looking forward to chatting with you all.

P.S Kifaru - the rhinos are my favourites in the park too!

Welcome!

It'll be interesting to hear your Marketing Department view of things as well!

(Now you've been welcomed from three continents)

Very glad to have a contact at Port Lympne join us, as I will be going there in late October (my first trip out of the U.S.). I am a serious photo enthusiast with a special interest in wild cats. Do you do any special enrichments or feedings of the small cats at set times?

You might have picked the most difficult animals in the park to photograph! :p The small cats are notoriously shy here and there is a lot of undergrowth in some of the cat enclosures. Having said that though, the best times to catch the cats are first thing in the morning (park opens at 10am) and late afternoon. If you ask the admissions staff when you arrive as well they'll be able to contact the keepers to find out feeding times for that day. In my opinion the Margay cats are especially worth the wait - very beautiful animals! Hope you enjoy your trip :)

hello ZooBunny (intresting name, combining zoos and Bunnies who'd of thought). welcome to zoochat, hope you enjoy the site.

It was the first thing that popped into my head - not sure what that says about me, but never mind! Thanks for the welcome, Foz :)

Welcome to zoochat. It will be great to have the opinions of zoo marketing in our forum :D

I'm just a massive zoo fan!:)

I am a student studying zoo biology. I am hoping to be working in a zoo part time soon. My particular interest lies more in conservation in the field though, and behavioural research. I also like zoo design, and it's impact on behaviour :)

I'm in year 9, hope to study Biology in VCE. I'm a massive fan of animals, in particular elephants. Some what as a nerd in school but appreciated for it, but my other passion is dancing. Hip hop, shuffling, break dancing.

That sounds really interesting - I did Animal Science and Behaviour Studies at uni, but ended up in zoo marketing! Which Zoo are you going to be working in?
