Zooish has pointed out that Jurong has taken their helmeted hornbills off display. Zooish, Do you know which other zoos have the species. They are really wierd, and quite hard to see in zoos and I've heard hard to see in the wild.

I'm pretty sure some zoos in thailand and malaysia have this species, but they're not reported on ISIS.

Thanks. Any new species or births at Jurong? I'm desperatly trying to get my parents to take me. Do you have any more pictures of Jurong?

Jurong brought in several new species of waterfowl in the past months. The ones i know of are:

whistling swan
whooper swan
barnacle goose
ruddy-headed goose
ruddy shelduck
cape shelduck
rosybill pochard
red pochard
common pochard

Jurong usually gets its birds in bulk from breeders in Europe, particularly the Netherlands. I'll post more pics of Jurong soon.

Hi Zooish, have you any new Hornbill pics to make our mouths water again, pls

I fed lots on wednesday when I did keeper for a day at Chester zoo. Tarictic, Writhed, rhinoceros, great and wrinkled. In fact I fed the whole hornbill collection at Chester zoo!!!!

I do have more hornbill pictures an I'll upload them when there's time.

Sorry mark, haven't had the time to go Jurong lately. How i wish it were right next to the Zoo so i can drop by daily...
Posted the last 2 hornbill (rhino + white-crowned) photos i have in my gallery.

In the meantime, Jonathan should be able to keep hornbill fans occupied ;)

We are thinking about coming to Singapore next year. Would the Helmeted hornbills be on show, or would I be able to see them in any way?

I really don't know. If they're still being held at the breeding complex, then its off-limits to public.
