Help with Zoos

Hi All

I'm heading over to Amsterdam for work and will have a few days off while I am there.

Last year I visited Artis, Blijdorp, Apenhuel, Burger and Amersfoort.

I'll only get two days this time and want to be able to travel by public transport. Looking on Zootierliste I like the collection at Wissel but it looks really hard to get to by public transport. I'm also concerned about what zoos might not be open or suitable to visit in Winter.

At this stage I am thinking I will go to Artis again (only 20 minutes from hotel) and Aqua Zoo Friesland. Is Aqua Zoo worht the trip? The collection looks reasonable on Zootierliste. What is it like at this time of year?

I'm also getting two days in Germany at the end of the trip but I think that will be for Duisburg and Cologne.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Greg

Ended up planning a heap of options from gaiapark to Rotterdam but with not great weather went back to Aqua Zoo on Monday and Artis on Tuesday. Artis was great and I got to photograph the North American porcupine and alps marmot so was happy. Also saw the tamandua and paca moving around, saw the beige nutria and a really brief glimpse of the owl monkey.

Will need to do some work for a few days but have the weekend free and plan to get over to Duisburg (river dolphin) and probably one other zoo (at this stage I'm thinking Cologne).

I will post a review of Aqua Zoo under its tag

Cologne is really the most complete (and best) zoo in that region, so certainly worth a visit :)

Thanks

I went ti Duisburg today and saw the river dolphin and my first wolverine so all good.

I've saved cologne for tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be marginally better.
