I was at the zoo yesterday, and the rhino/tapir yards were empty with no signage up. Does anyone know if the zoo no longer has those species? Perhaps that will be where the new iconic animals will be going?

Calling it right now. Its a clouded or snow leopard (The zoo stated that there big cat area would be expanded)

The rhino passed away early this year. Not sure about the tapir.

According to the Zoo's Facebook page, the new animal will be: a white rhinoceros!

A new map for the year has been posted! A few observations:

*The expanded rhino exhibit is shown, though I haven't heard anything yet about when the new rhino(s) will arrive.
*Porcupines have taken up the former seal pool by the big cats.
*The new Wisconsin Heritage exhibit (badgers and sandhill cranes) has been added.

I was curious if any zoo would take some of Nanuq's sperm since he's such a proven breeder. Here's hoping this A.I. works out!
