It is nice that zoos are creating modern polar bear exhibits that can house multiple bears. However, there has also been two deaths in the U.S. recently and the current U.S. polar bear population is small. Part of me wonders if polar bears in outdated exhibits should be the candidates to go to these new exhibits. But, some are old so they will probably stay put. On the bright side, there's more choices of future locations for the four polar cubs born recently.

Love it when a politician makes an outlandish statement like the one contained in this article."Our zoo has always been one of the top free zoos in the country now its going to be the top free zoo in the country"has this guy ever been to St Louis, National Zoo or Lincoln Park.Its a shame they have to shave 6.4 mil off the project as well hopefully its still a great addition to the zoo.Henry Villas is possibly on our radar for a visit this summer.

A second male African Penguin chick named Burgess is on exhibit in the Animal Care Center.

The prairie dogs are in an off-exhibit stall in the Animal Health Care Center, while the zoo renovates their exhibit. Live cams inside the health center lets visitors see them.

New animals available this weekend at Henry Vilas Zoo

I was speechless when I saw the picture of the aardvark. Glad to see this small zoo now has the unique creature!

The zoo is holding a one day donation event Tuesday to raise $5000 to bring a new male lion in to be paired with Shakura. He will be one of the cubs born at Woodland Park Zoo.

The zoo smashed its goal of $5000 to bring in the new lion getting over $8000 by the time the article was written. The extra money will go to transporting other animals to the zoo in 2014.
