Based on that Zoochat members should aim to discuss zoos from all sides, how about that we put the 'gay talk' aside for now and discuss how zoos represent heterosexuality among their animals and if zoos are actually places for heterosexuality.

What are your thoughts and opinions in this matter?

But before the heated debate beings, let me assure you that:

1) I'm straight :p
2) Yes I'm being sarcastic with this thread :D

Lol I dont see what's unusual in terms of discusssing the topic of homosexuality in zoos.

I think it's terrible when zoo visitors flaunt their heterosexuality by bringing their kids. Especially when they have more than 1 or 2. With human overpopulation being the main cause of habitat loss worldwide I don't think excessive evidence of human heterosexuality is nice to see in places breeding the animals that suffer as a result.

Please tell me that your tongue is firmly in your cheek!

I could not have said it better myself! :D

So your gay thats cool Baldur acceptance is the key.

The need for Heterosexuals ?

Well we need the breeders [heterosexuals] although allot of progress has been made with traditional non breeding [gay] pairs.

Interestingly the male heterosexual [closet gay] animal is often the most striking and glamourous in appearance.

Peacocks [mardi gras parade]
Bower birds [gayly decorated nest]
A whole lot of parrots [bright and flashy colours]

So yep give the few true heterosexuals some representation as they really are disappearing.

That it reduces population growth is the exact argument for why homosexuality isn't a problem as given in Desmond Morris' 'Naked Ape'.

True.

True.

Given the age and 'social standards' at the time when Morris wrote that book, this is remarkable.

From my own personal experience there isn't any kind of sexuality in the zoo one way or the other, but then again, that's my own experience.

we had a pair of heterosexuals once
but it took a lot of alcohol to get them to breed
the male of the pair was a bit fierce and the female kept attacking him
but a consultant advised us to get him a thing called a job and the female settled down once we placed a telephone in the enclosure for her
they are a lot of work those heterosexuals:)

You nailed it, Baldur, zoo is a perfect place for a date! Always plenty of cute furry animals which girls like, no competition. And often some animals are mating, which naturally brings the conversation into... well, the humorous, relaxed, dirty talk.

But it is only for us, poor Southerners. I heard that in Scandinavia there is no zoos, because Scandinavian women don't wait until after date? :D

On a lighter note these two male kangaroos are very much in love.
I don't have a problem with any sexuality so lets all have a great day out at the zoo
