Hey Zoochat!

Hi all!

I'm a long-time San Diego resident that spends a lot of weekends at the SDZ or Safari Park photographing for fun. I found this place while looking for ways to be more proactive in receiving news about the zoo's updates and evolution into new expansions. I'm mostly an all-around mammal person, though lately I've been developing a soft spot for the bears and all our antelopes at the SDZ.

I'm totally new to using forums, so any ways I can keep myself from steeping on others' toes/tails/hooves/wings/fins/etc. would be greatly appreciated! Any tips to sourcing accurate info would be great too, as talking to volunteers in my experiences has been spotty but still nice.

Welcome aboard!
I am unsure how would you step on anyone's appendices, could you elaborate on the question?

As far as updating yourself on SDZ news, I imagine you're already subscribed to their newsletter? If not, they might be a good source of new info.

Since I'm totally new to using forums, I worry about being annoying with the posting - just general etiquette or advice from the experienced users here would be awesome. It's funny, I saw your introduction before introducing myself and I don't want to leave any of my own "examples of stupidity" as you eloquently put it.

I am also subscribed to the newsletter!

I have a few in mind but I'm no moderator so I'll refrain from mini-modding, you should consult this thread instead Guidelines for Beginners
As far as examples of stupidity go, simply inform yourself a bit before replying to a thread on a topic you don't have much knowledge of and if you're unsure of the information you have ask for feedback and correction, it sounds the norm but little me had to bump his head a few times before getting it:D:oops:enthusiasm is usually good but here it can be misguided in younger folks, and if you plan on really running/opening/funding/working in a zoological establishment, take it to the real world, saying it out loud here will not give you anything more than ironic replies, a pat on the back and a "get in line":p.

Also if you like to conceptualize dream zoos/exhibits read the speculative zoo forum guidelines(Speculative Zoo Design and Planning forum), that is a subforum that gets abused a lot of times, formely by myself too...
