Hi Guys

I just signed up to Zoochat but have been reading your guys comments for a while and i am shocked at how much you guys know.:eek:

I also have to say this is my first chat thing so it will take me a while to learn the ropes of sending stuff.

So you know a little about me I work part time at Franklin Zoo in New Zealand and am going to do the Captive wild animals course at Unitec which is the only course in nz that trains you to be a zookeeper.
So if you have any questions bout Franklin zoo im your guy.

Sure, well the zoos misson is to provide a home for animals that do not fit into regions breeding programs eg to many males or females in a group and they need a home. and to provide a home for animals from the circus eg lions and to provide a educational experience for the community.

Its not the best zoo in the world but it is doing its part for the community and for local zoos such as Auckland Zoo.
The zoo has been a round for around 30 years it started off as a chicken farm then to a bird park then a place for circus animals to go when not peforming till finally becomming a zoo.

The zoo is home to 2 lionesses, 5 species of primates , 2 bobcats an otter a range of exotic birds and reptiles and many hoof stock

I'm very jealous of your job at the zoo :p It sounds great, and I bet that course is brill too. Good luck with it all :)

It is a great zoo nothing like Auckland Zoo but provides a different experience that people love

If you ever in NZ definitely come visit
