Hi everyone we are new to this website.Our names are Anna and Kate and we are creazy animal lovers.We are Toronto Zoo regulars,our favorite is Moja ( hyena),Twiga and Mstari ( Masai Giraffe),Shani,Tori,Jake,Luke and Leia (Grevy's Zebras),Tika ( cheetah) and the list goes on. Also we are Seaworld regulars, we always travel to SeaWorld every year and been to all 3 parks, our favorite orca whales are Ulises,Keet,Tuar,Ky and Tillikum .Also we are future veterinarians and hopping to work at Toronto Zoo or Seaworld when we graduate.Love to meet all the people here

Welcome to ZooChat Anna and Kate. My favourite zoo specimen of all time remains a Killer Whale - Cuddles, the first of his species to be seen in confinement in the UK. Is it really over forty years since he died? (Yes unfortunately.)

Welcome to ZooChat ! In the Netherlands we don't have Killerwhales anymore !
For some time we had however 2 well-known ones at Harderwijk : Gudrun which was send to one of the Sea Worlds in the USA if I'm right and later ( 2011 ) a wild-caught - in the Netherlands ! - named Morgan which was send later to Loro Parque on Tenerife.
8 further Killerwhales were kept for very short times at Harderwijk but all left to other places all over the world.

He arrived at Flamingo Park about a month before my seventh birthday - it seems like yesterday!

Cuddles was captured in 1968 from Washington, J or L pod, he passed away in 1974. He lived 5.5 years

He did not live long enough. His death was announced on the national news here as his sale and planned departure from Dudley had been publicised for some time.

Yep he defenetly was still a yong whale when he passed

Welcome aboard! Tilly is my favorite Killer Whale too! And is it just me or is Keet in the running to be the second best Orca Grandfather ever (after Tillikum)?
